Win $700 for gifts and a personal shopper!

It's week two of the Time Warner Cable Enjoy Holidays Better contest on Twitter, and you'll definitely want to enter! Up for grabs? $700 for holiday gifts, and TWC will do the shopping and wrapping for you!

Read the official rules here and head to Twitter asap to enter. The deadline is 11:59 p.m. Thursday. All you have to do is share why you should win, including @TWCable_KC and #EnjoyHolidaysBetter in your entry. We'll draw a winner Friday morning.

Last week's winner of a holiday home makeover by Julie Blanner of Coordinately Yours and Custom Christmas Lighting was photographer Claire Ryser of Lee's Summit, who didn't have a tree, lights or hardly any holiday decor before we stepped in!

Julie took these photos, not me, doesn't everything look gorgeous?

I'm sure Julie will have more photos on her blog soon, so be sure to check it out and follow her for amazing design tips and inspiration - she is truly talented and so nice too.

Don't forget to enter this week's contest for the holiday gift money and a personal shopper! I'd love for one of my friends to win!

Win a Holiday Home Makeover

There is a really amazing contest going on right now, and you MUST enter! One of my clients, Time Warner Cable, is giving away a holiday home makeover (including outside lights, a fully-decorated tree and more) to a lucky customer, and that customer could be you!

Here's what you need to do:

1. Go to Twitter and log in with your account. If you don't have one, sign up; it's quick, easy, and really, we should all be on Twitter by now, right?!
2. Search #EnjoyHolidaysBetter or @TWCable_KC and share why you should win (the more touching or inspiring the story, the better of course!)
3. Get your friends, family and other random followers to Retweet your entry.
4. Cross your fingers and wait for the results.

The deadline is noon Thursday - that's tomorrow - so get on it! The very fortunate winner will receive outside lights, as well as a fully-decorated tree and more, all designed by fellow blogger and design extraordinaire Julie Blanner at Coordinately Yours.

That's not all ... While this week's contest ends tomorrow, you can enter each week for a new prize. Next up for grabs? $700 for gifts, plus Time Warner Cable "elves" will do the shopping and wrapping for you! Incredible, right?! You can begin entering for that gift on Monday, Dec. 3, with the deadline at noon Thursday, Dec. 6.

The following week, we'll be giving away a catered holiday lunch for a local business, and the final week will gift an area classroom with a special Breakfast with Santa. Think of how much your child would love you for that one?!

OK, the clock is ticking, so go to Twitter NOW! (While you're there, make sure to follow us too: @EditKC.

Do: STEMfest at Science City

This Saturday, November 10, Time Warner Cable is hosting a FREE event at KC's Science City. This means two things - I'll be working, and you should join me!

This is the first year Time Warner Cable is hosting STEMfest in Kansas City, and we're expecting  a great turnout from local organizations who focus on science, tech, engineering and math (STEM).

Plus, Science City has a new Nature Center exhibit and all kinds of fun, interactive activities for kids of all ages. I thought my girls (ages 3 and 4) were too young for Science City, but on my last visit with Time Warner, I noticed the Kinder Lab and several other exhibits they would totally love!

And did I mention the event is FREE?! Admission to Science City is typically around $10 per person, so this is a great savings for a family of four like ours.

Because admission is free, we're anticipating lots of families, so friend to friend, here's a bit of advice - get there early!

Let me know if you have any questions, and please spread the word about this fun and FREE event! And, of course, you have to say hello if you come by. I'll be in the Time Warner Cable shirt : )

Have a great Monday!

Pinch Me

I. AM. SO. EXCITED! Tomorrow, I'm meeting two of my favorite interior designers and (in my eyes) drool-worthy celebs - Jonathan Adler and Genevieve Gorder!

They are coming to Kansas City for a patrons party sponsored by Time Warner Cable (my client) and benefiting Kansas City's Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art ... and I'll be with them for several hours. Pinch me!

So, in case you need a refresher:

Iconic potter, designer, author, and personality, Jonathan Adler is dedicated to bringing style,
craft and joy to your home.Adler launched his first ceramic collection in 1994 at Barneys New York. Five years later he expanded into home furnishings, opening his first namesake boutique in Manhattan. Jonathan Adler now has over 20 stores worldwide, a thriving e-commerce site, and
a wholesale business boasting more than 1,000 locations globally.

HGTV Design Star judge Genevieve Gorder’s unmistakable style and enthusiasm have made her one of America's favorite interior designers. Finding inspiration and beauty in everyday life, Genevieve applies her soulful and whimsical style to transform the interiors of homes around the world and on her HGTV series, Dear Genevieve.

In addition to their obvious stardom, my reasons for loving both of these designers are somewhat personal.

I absolutely love all of Jonathan Adler's furniture and accessories - walking into one of his stores is a true visual treat! Unfortunately, I don't have a huge decorating budget, so I currently own one plate and one bowl - both in a beautiful blue and white Greek key design. In fact, I made it a goal a few years ago on my 30th birthday when I made my first true Jonathan Adler purchase to buy at least one item at every store I visit. So now I've been to stores in Chicago and Minneapolis ... it's a slow process : )

Now on to Genevieve. Many of you may know, I've received many celeb look-alike comparisons over the years. The most unfortunate is Barbara Streisand. Need I say more? The most positive ... Jennifer Aniston - I swear my friend Anne is smoking crack. But the most believable (at least to me) is Genevieve. Ever since I graduated from college in 2002, I've received one or two "You look like Genevieve" comments a year. These I welcome with open arms! I love Genevieve, and I think she's gorgeous! I've been watching her since her "Trading Spaces" days and was so happy when she showed up on HGTV several years ago.

So now you know why I'm so thrilled to be meeting both Jonathan and Genevieve (yes, we're on a first names basis now!) I'll be sure to post pics after Thursday night's event.

Now on to figuring out what I'm going to wear!!

Time Warner Cable Blogger Event at Plaza Art Fair

image courtesy of The Purple Carrot

September is one of my favorite months of the year. Not only is the weather FINALLY cooling down, but two of my all-time, never-miss events are this month. The already-attended Greek Festival and the Plaza Art Fair.

The Plaza Art Fair will always hold a special place in my heart because it was Matthew and I's very first date four years ago (cue the "ahhs).

We're going back again this Friday night because Edit was invited to Time Warner Cable's VIP Blogger Event! As long time Time Warner internet customers (we got rid of cable to save $$), I'm excited to see and experience all the new services. There has been lots of GOOGLE talk around these parts, so it's nice to see TWC presence at such a highly-attended event.

In addition to experiencing some new TWC stuff, there will also be complimentary food, beer and wine from Seasons 52, which I have yet to try!

Oh and maybe one of the BEST perks of this event is the VIP parking. If you've been to the Art Fair before you know parking is a nightmare! A little birdie also told me they have places to sit (a necessity for me!) and nice bathrooms (it's the little things...).

TWC has other things going on for the general public all weekend including giveaway items, face painting, photo opps and much more. The tent is located on Broadway just north of Nichols.

Hope to see you there!

*Full disclosure: Kara is employed by Time Warner Cable and helping with the event this weekend (all weekend - poor thing!). Melina is just benefiting from her hard work!
