Birthday Boots

My Dad and I have started a very lovely birthday tradition - shoe shopping at Nordstrom! You may recall I blogged about all the gorgeous shoes I was coveting for fall here ... well, Dad came through with an impromptu shopping trip for my birthday (32 ... gasp!), and here's what I came home with:

Jessica Simpson Esteem boot
I thought about and even tried on the much pricer Fryes, but honestly, they didn't fit as well, and I just couldn't handle the $300+ price tag, even with someone else buying. I love these Jessica Simpson boots, and the two-tone toe looks really cool. Plus, since I opted for a more reasonably priced boot, I also picked up a new pair of tennis shoes:

Nike LunarEclipse2

Now I've only been running/walking about four times in the last two weeks, but that's four more times than all summer combined, so maybe I'm on to something? Let's hope!

Do you have any fun birthday traditions like shoe shopping with your Dad? If so, share!

Tuesday Teaser: The Perfect Fall Accessory

As the weather cools down and mums pop up in pots across town, us girls start itching for our fall wardrobes. While it's still a little too warm for riding boots and leggings (especially if you're always sweating like me with two girls in tow), now is the perfect time to break out adorable fall scarves, like these:

Both are priced at just $16, so you can easily buy one for yourself and one for your sister, Mom or best friend - hint, hint : ) Leave a comment or send us an email at editkc@gmail.com to purchase. We take cash, checks and also debit/credit cards now ... and shipping is free!

Happy Birthday Kara!

Today is my sister's favorite day of the year - her birthday!

She's notorious for reminding us months in advance that her birthday is coming up, sending birthday party evites on behalf of herself and "casually" pointing out things while shopping that would be a great gift for me to buy her for her birthday. :)

In all seriousness though, I wish her a day full of fun with her girls and Marky and lots and lots of love. She is truly the best sister, friend and business partner (and soon to be auntie) that I could ever ask for.

And one day when I'm rich, I'm going to gift her with an unlimited shopping spree to Anthropologie!

Love you very much Kara. Happy 32nd!

Koukla

Koukla is a Greek word for cute girl - and I am very fortunate to have two! Last weekend, my oldest Koukla, Evie, made her Greek dancing debut at our church's annual Greek Festival. Check out our Greek goddess:

Her little dance troupe did a great job with six performances over the weekend!

Evie's dance troupe - don't you love the boys' costumes?!

Nora was very disappointed to be left out of Greek dancing (you have to be 4), at one point screaming through her tears: "If they won't let me dance, I'll do it by myself." And so she did. Not sure where she got the hands-on-the-hips move, but it was a repeat performance.

We were also very lucky to have so many friends come to visit us at the festival to see Evie dance - and enjoy the amazing food of course. We didn't take any food photos - we ate everything too fast - but our post from last week describes the decadent menu with photos too.

Yiayia and Papou were also in town over the weekend, so we managed to snap a few fun family pics.

As you can imagine from all the photos, we left the Greek Festival each night very full and very tired. Thanks to Papou, the girls enjoyed nice valet service.

We hope you you made it out to the Greek Festival too. If not, join us next year. It's always the weekend after Labor Day - right around my birthday (which is tomorrow!!)

Fashion Night Out

Last night we met up with a few friends and made the rounds at Fashion Night Out on the Plaza. We had a great time sampling Snow & Co. cocktails and checking out our friend and fellow blogger Kelly's mannequin that she styled at Halls.

Didn't she do an amazing job?!

Next we walked down to the Kate Spade store. They had soo many cute things. Our friend Marci pulled the trigger and got a gorgeous gold watch. Here are some of the things we were eying.

Great, colorblock shoe, right? After Kara and I restrained ourselves from spending our savings at Kate Spade, we decided to tease ourselves for awhile at Michael Kors, Anthropologie and J.Crew. Aren't we mean to ourselves?

We also met Megan Haas, owner of Kansas City's first blow dry bar, Parlor. So excited for it to open on the plaza. Kara and I are already planning on hitting it up before my KC baby shower!

And finally a pic at the end of the night when my legs just couldn't lug my belly around for any longer.

Dying over Hatch

I've been totally embracing my growing bump and growing breasts, ass, hips, etc. And nothing (I repeat nothing) has me more excited about dressing myself than Hatch Collection's fall line. It is gorgeous. I've been swooning over Hatch since before I was pregnant. Weird to be eyeing maternity looks pre-pregnancy? Heck no because you can wear Hatch clothes with or without a bump. Their clothes are pricey, but I really hope someone (wink, wink husband) indulges me on this because I'm sooo in love with the following:

The Legging, $148

The Sweatshirt Dress, $238

The Slouch Dress, $248

Aren't you dying? Quick question: can I get away with adding these to my registry?

Smoothies with my snookies

Kara dropped the girls off at my house yesterday morning while she headed down to NBC for one of our clients, and I decided to teach the girls how to make homemade smoothies.

Don't I have adorable little assistants in the kitchen?

They loved helping me cut up the fresh strawberries and pour in the ingredients. At first I thought they'd be turned off by the handful of spinach I threw in there, but they didn't even bat an eye. And watching the blender mix everything together - now THAT was cool!

And they loved them so much, we made two batches! Here's what we made:

Smoothie 1
1 cup of milk
1 handful of spinach
1 banana
6-8 fresh strawberries
handful of frozen raspberries

Smoothie 2
1 cup of milk
1 handful of spinach
1 banana
1 cup of frozen peaches
